Buy a pound of this, and a pound of that. This is pretty much the only place (if not, please let me know) location that is dedicated to selling traditional Chinese meat in this type of set-up. From duck, pork, and chicken, to beef short ribs and other things - this is a very good place to get it! Prices are a bit high, but what can you do if no one else has it like this?

This restaurant offers a wide variety of Asian dishes, but they specialize in BBQ. I've tried the duck, steamed and soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork and cuttlefish, but my absolute favorite is the roasted pork. Everything else was just okay. I would recommend getting a plate of that with a side of rice rather than a combination plate because you'll get more meat. Their soups are huge and can be shared with the whole table. It's a nice appetizer before enjoying what this place is all about.

This place is always full of Chinese people...period. Best Cantonese style BBQ in the valley. I buy my roast duck and Chinese doughnut rice roll here. Been coming here since they opened in 2013 and have always impressed me every visit. This is where I take my parents when they come into town.

We had lobster, salted fished fried rice, clams, ong choy, and got a sampler plate of meats. We were one of three tables and the service was horrendous. For me, the salted fish rice was the best part. Everything else was a little weird in taste. I can't exactly tell you what but most of my food just didn't taste to satisfactory- like out of my expectations. Take this as a personal preference but I will not be eating back here. This is one review I can't put into words as far as taste. Possibly very heavy on msg?

I don't eat much porridge but when I do Ho Mei BBQ hits the spot. So, having two girls in my group recovering from food poisoning it was very difficult to find a place where they will end up puking. So, one of them found Ho Mei BBQ and I was excited to have some porridge. The place is in this Asian plaza which consists of a sushi place, a big supermarket, a Boba place, etc. We were greeted by our server and sat us down to this round table like in every traditional Chinese restaurant. FOOD: What I got: P4 - Chicken Porridge: I was preventing myself from getting sick as I was already feeling crappy so I opt in for some Chicken Porridge. I really like the flavor of this because it wasn't watered down like other porridge I've had in the past. Decent amount of meat too. What my friends got that I actually remembered: BQ1 - Three Delicacy Combination: Three of them shared this plate and they finished it. It consist of roasted duck, pork and chicken. I didn't get the chance to try it as I was already happy eating my porridge. I gotta try this one next time I come to SLC. S2 - Chicken Corn Soup: Holy shiet.... this was a big ass bowl of soup! My girl friend didn't really finish it because she also ordered another dish. Lol. Her verdict: really good. PN1: Special Combination Pho: a Chinese restaurant that serves Pho?! Yep. My friend said that his pho was good considering that he's Vietnamese and eats a lot of good Pho back in the bay area. SERVICE: Our server was such a nice, sweet lady! She wasn't a typical rude, careless server. She split our checks on how we wanted them without any questions or complaints that it's going to be complicated. I hope she's still working there when I come back!

Peking duck, wonton noodle soup, congee with preserved egg, chicken with black beans on a sizzling platter, salt baked crab, and walnut shrimp. Are you drooling yet? Because I am. Listed above are some of my favorite dishes!! Peking duck has to be ordered 24 hour in advance. There is no other restaurants in the state of Utah, at least the ones I have been to, that have Peking duck. Wonton noodle soup and congee with preserved egg are good choices on chilly days. If you are a fruit lover, get the walnut shrimp. A sweet surprise indeed with hidden pineapple and pear. On my most recent visit here, I was with a group of 5. The restaurant did not have that many customers yet so our food came out quickly. Out of the 5 dishes we ordered only one dish was not finished. The seafood udon noodles were grossly too salty. We let our server know and she was grateful that we informed her.

Place is till good and consistent. I am in love their noodle soup with the small egg noodles. Change from duck to pork to wontons and then mix them all up at different times never seems to get old. I can't compare this to Pho but it is great in its own category. So far the porridge with scallops has been a 2nd favorite next to the famous hawker stand in Singapore. Here you don't need to wait in a long line to get it. :-) Their duck is always tender and with a crispy skin. Can't forget about the salted fish egg fried rice, it has a bit of a strong smell but the flavor is just right. Will continue to keep trying out new items from this place.

We just came to try again for lunch yesterday (Saturday) and not many people was there. The service seems to improve with 3 different waitresses serving us. It is much quicker and the lady manager (perhaps owner ?) was there to serve us personally by filing-in our water, so we're happy with the service this time. We ordered two simple dishes... Two bbq with rice and beef tendon noodle with dumpling. The two BBQ rice is good with soft/good rice and soft vegetables (fresh as well). I loved the roast duck a lot, but the roasted pork has thick fat in between (not the best pork roast pieces). With better cut, I'd give this place 4 stars. The beef tendon soup is delicious and tasty. The shrimp dumpling is excellent and beef tendon is great as well. The price is good ... With the much improved service, I recommended Ho Mei BBQ again ... Keep up the consistency of your service, Ho Mei ...

I'm not much of a Chinese food fan because everything seems to taste the same to me.... But HOI MEI changed that for me! We got the 3meat plate with roasted duck, spare ribs, and bbq pork- the meat was so flavorful and it didn't all taste all the same to me being on one plate I haven't been a fan of duck lately but this was perfect for me! Spicey Green beans is delicious and perfect! It's a must try. I am now addicted to them! My son ordered the Beef Lo mein I cleaned the plate in this one and I usually hate Lo mein My daughter got the sesame chicken that was good. The price was cheap for how yummy it is and the portions they give. I can't wait to go back and try everything else

Ho Mei BBQ has an impressive menu at first. There is also the excitement of being in Chinatown Plaza with the big red gate our front as well. There were a few dishes that caught my eye--- the roast pork dangling in the BBQ case, the HK style milk tea, and the assortment of cheung fun (rice noodle) wrapped dishes. The reviews sing many praises for all of the dishes. However, even for SLC standards, even against Tampa, Florida standards (where I live), I was not impressed. Maybe I have the word "sucker" written on my forehead, or Ho Mei staff just does not like my face, but we almost felt ripped off dining there. The tiny amount of pork and duck given for $8.95 was laughable in any state. It was just a few bites of both. Normally, $8.95 would be a "large" portion anywhere else. The cheung-fun dishes decent, the noodle a little soggy with no much chew. The cruller you-tiao version was stale, probably because the cruller was not fried fresh. The "cucumber salad" is just sliced and salted cucumbers, covered in that spicy corn syrup sauce that you can buy in a jug. The same sauce that is often used at Thai restaurants, and they even serve egg rolls with it now at Pei Wei. There are many great Chinese restaurants in SLC, I will be trying other ones next time I am in town. Yep.

The duck here is phenomenal. Sure the health dept. shut it down. I don't care. I'd eat this duck out of the guy's car trunk. The pork belly is pure delicious fat, fried crispy on the ends. Also loved the seafood udon!

All Hail to Ho Mei, one of the best on a short but growing list of tasty and authentic Asian eateries here in saltytown. I have dined here many times, the food and service are delicious - even on a quiet tuesday afternoon when you can have the whole place to yourself. Can you describe service as delicious? I will say yes in this case....the staff is efficient, helpful and smiling, so do go breathe the yummy bbq aromas and enjoy the warm vibe atmosphere that is exclusively created by the staff. Mike is an awesome guide to all things Ho Mei....everyone is on their game here. I have never eaten anything that wasn't downright yummy, and I am practically willing to use the word spectacular. My favorite dishes are the triple rice roll, boiled spicy beef, ginger pork, and yes oh yes (think Meg Ryan) the Sichuan potatoes, dear god--they are radical!!!!!

Pretty good Chinese BBQ, they have a variety of classic Chinese dishes. I recommend their three delicacy combination meat and chicken chow mein. I'm definitely going to come back and try the duck bao buns, you have to order ahead of time for them to make it.

So I recently came back here after their long renovation break and everything changed. They changed the entire menu, they cut out a lot of their specialty like the chef special tofu, they don't have any sizzling egg plants anymore. The waitresses are very rude. The very nice waitresses are all gone. They started to charge for rice refills now which is dumb. I think they didn't only renovated their kitchen but they probably change their chef. They don't even come to refill the water. It used to be a really good place, but I don't think this will be my to go place anymore.

too bad, especially the steam chicken. It was cold. Me and my friend had it and we both end up in the bathroom with severe stomachache. this placed used to be a very good restaurant, but keep in mind that it longer has this qualification. Be careful with get there. Furthermore, I pretty sure the waitress doesnt hold food handle permission. She dropped the lid of the food cover and still severed it on the table without giving new lid. The attitude is too bad while asking costumer to order food (specifically smash the menu in front of me) So disappointed.

Awesome chow with some of the worst service. But regardless the food is good. You'll just have to be a pushy SOB to get what you want... like a refill. Recommended!

I'm certainly intrigued by the possibility here. I've only been a couple of times, but so far it hasn't failed to impress. Best described as a big menu you might expect to see at a divier place, but a little nicer package and friendly-ish service. That's a pretty neat combo. Located inside of the Chinatown development (aka Dragongate aka Chinagate) on State Street, it's the only place in town I've seen with ducks hanging in the window. A good sign, IMO. Inside you'll find plenty of seating and it's new, in good shape, bright with lots of windows. Once you're seated, plan on taking some time to peruse the menu. It's massive, with entire sectioned dedicated to noodles, different proteins, soups, sizzling platters, rice dishes, and more. Last time I ordered the chicken and bean sauce sizzling platter which lived up to its name; it arrived smoking hot to our table and continued to bubble and sizzle for several minutes after arrival. It was quite good. Prices are pretty reasonable. I don't think anything was a real screaming deal, but I didn't balk at any of them either. If you want to be adventurous but have friends who aren't convinced, this is a perfect place for them to get their sweet and sour chicken while you go roast duck or tofu crazy.

This place has excellent food all around. We have been to this place several times and every time, every thing we tried was excellent. 5 star worthy. Chow fun was awesome We tried several American style Chinese as well as traditional Chinese plates and all were delicious.

Pretty good Chinese food, but I don't know how authentic it was. We love the orange chicken and the pork and the lo mein noodles. It did however have authentically bad Chinese service. Took forever to pay and get out of there. We will most likely go back, because the food is pretty good. It's just hard knowing if we'll get a server who will actually help us or just sit back behind the counter eating and drinking

*Insert crying emoji* I tried so hard to like this place, but I just didn't. We needed somewhere to stop for a quick lunch, so we pulled into SLC's little China town and took to yelp. This place had great reviews so we figured we'd give it a shot! The atmosphere was really nice upon entering and you can tell it's been recently renovated. (Bright spot number one). The hostess/waitress showed us to a table and we began to search the menu. The menu here is HUGE. Not simply, "Wow, look at all the options I have" huge... just overwhelmingly huge. We decided to order from the lunch menu as we thought it would be a great deal at $6.25! (More on that in a moment)... We got our water our drinks and ordered meals and an appetizer. I asked if they would be able to sub steamed veggies on the side instead of rice, but they said no. I was pretty sad as I have commonly had this before, but didn't make a big deal about it. I ordered the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce, my husband ordered the Beef with Mushrooms, and we split the curry fish appetizer. We waited quite a while before the appetizer was brought out to us. It was definitely good and I really liked it, but I would never need to order it again. Right around the time that we finished the appetizer, my husband's meal came out, but mine didn't. When mine did come out a few minutes later, it wasn't what I ordered. (I ordered the garlic shrimp and received the shrimp with broccoli. Because we were in a hurry and I didn't really mind eating what they gave me instead, I didn't make a fuss about it. However, it was not very good. There was WAY too much sauce on it. I'm talking drowning. As my husband ate his meal, he wasn't thrilled and pointed out that there were only 4 small pieces of beef in his meal. It was then I realized that I had only gotten 3 shrimp in mine. (Thus why I said it didn't end up being that great of a deal). We paid (no discount for my incorrect meal), and left, and I felt really sad that I didn't like this place. Maybe someday I'll try again and be pleasantly surprised... but for now, I'd rather just hop across the street to Oh Mai. P.S. They don't have spring rolls or crab ragoon/cream cheese wontons on their menu, which I feel like at this point is supposed to be a staple of the American-Chinese restaurant. Not that I have convinced myself crab ragoon is a real Chinese food... I'm just sayin'.

Went here with couple of friends for the first time after seeing great pictures that my friend posted. The BBQ looked so good that I had to come and try it. I got the BBQ pork with lo mein while my girlfriend got the XO sauce stir fried seafood udon. The BBQ pork dish came with BBQ pork on top of lo mein and also with soup that had lots of dumplings in it. I thought the BBQ was amazing as it shows in pictures. The only downside to our experience at this restaurant was that the food came very sporadically. Three of our dishes came very fast, but the other three dishes came when we were done with the previous dishes. The service was sub-par but the food definitely made up for it

Decided to give this a try with the family. We went there a few days after they had opened. Before we entered the restaurant there was a sign on their door alerting potential customers that this was just a "soft opening" and that not everything on their menu would be available. I wasn't expecting much because this is a fairly new restaurant and clearly they need to work out their kinks. We had a party of four and were seated promptly upon arrival. As we glanced over their vast menu, I felt the presence of our waiter hanging over my shoulder. After looking over the menu we ordered some noodle bowls. I ordered the egg noodle soup with roast duck, the other three in my party ordered the noodle soup with fishballs, noodle soup with wontons and beef stew noodle with wontons. The wonton noodle soup and fishball noodle soup came out within 15 minutes of ordering. This left myself and my friend looking a little confused. Typically orders come out at the same time, or within a few minutes. We looked hungrily at the others noodle bowls because ours still hadn't come out yet. Finally, about 15 minutes later the roast duck and beef noodles came out. At this point the other two members of our party were already half way done with theirs. The food: The soups at least came out piping hot (at least they weren't sitting around, I hope) The beef ended being too tough and fatty. The other two members didn't have problems with their food, but both agreed that it was just average. Now to my noodles, the noodles had a good texture, not too soft or chewy. The roast duck on the other hand was another story. The duck was way too oily and very tough. This was a severe disappointment because, everything smelled really good (maybe this was the hunger getting to me?). This was the worst part though, finding a fruit fly floating in my soup. I didn't even get half way through my noodles when noticed it and I just stopped. This just turned me off for the rest of my time at this restaurant. What I don't understand is that there was a bunch of kitchen staff behind the counter looking like they had nothing to do and the waiters were just standing there, so why did our food take so long to come out? We certainly weren't the only table to suffer from long waits for our food. For the prices that they charged and the amount of food we got, it left us wanting more. Will I come back to this place? Probably not, with the just so so food and prices they charged not to mention the certain insect floating in my soup, there are other places that I'd rather go to for much better food and service. Which is too bad, because this place looked promising. There are very few good Chinese BBQ places in the Salt Lake Valley, and unfortunately, Ho Mei BBQ isn't one of them.

We've been to Ho Mei several times and the food is very good. We always order the roast Pork the serving size is a bit small but enough for 4 people as an appetizer. The roast duck one-ton mein is very good with a touch of green veggies. Their Hong Kong style pan fried noodles are done really well and lots of meat choices or just veggies. The beef tomato is perfect over these pan fried noodles. Gai Lan - Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce or stir fried with garlic is excellent. Over all it's a fantastic rounded menu with lots of options. Lots of parking, good and attentive service. If you either not sure what a menu item is or need a special order the service staff is informative and helpful. Another big plus is they are open late one Fridays and Saturdays and late enough on weekdays and Sundays. DO NOT make the mistake of going there on Mondays.... the only day they are closed. If you have not had Chinese bar b que this would be a great place for an introduction.

I must say I was very disappointed with this place. We ordered the three meat bbq with the duck, pork, and chicken. The duck was tasteless, the pork had more bones than meat and the chicken was dry. The noodle dish we ordered was alright.

A very, very promising authentic Hongkongese place. They have a great idea and a young, ambitious chef but a not well-trained staff. I believe with time, Ho Mei can be a great restaurant for people who long for authentic Chinese food. Plan plenty of time when you do go. House made Tofu is a must try. Roast duck is one the best in town. Ask for manager Amy. She always is very helpful.

Hmmm.. I think the people that gave this place 2 stars and low reviews, are really people that should go to Panda Express. They want their service super fast, they want crab/cream cheese Rangoon.. Umm NO! If you go to Hong Kong (and dine at a traditional restaurant), you wouldn't find orange chicken, anything with cream cheese and service is truly horrible . I regret to inform you my review doesn't come with pictures attached, because when the food came, we DEVOURED it. No time for pictures. And trust me when I say I usually feed my phone before I feed myself. We ordered the three delicacy dish(roast duck, BBQ pork and roast pork), yeung chau fried rice, and clay pot beef stew. The BBQ delicacy platter came out first, because everything was prepped and ready to go, but the fried rice and clay pot dishes took longer to come out. I didn't mind it. I just thought of it being made with love at the kitchen. Cooking real food takes time. Those clay pot dishes in reality are slow cooked for hours. And for anybody that doesn't know what authentic Chinese food is, we like most of our dishes saucy. If you don't want your rice or noodles or anything with the too much sauce, it's best to tell your waitress in advance. Previous reviews were saying the waitresses were too slow or rude. I didn't feel like that at all. I felt that they were just the right amount of attentiveness. If they were really that terrible, I think they have tried really hard to improve and work on what was lacking. I REALLLLY don't want this place turning into another typical American Chinese joint so please, don't give negative reviews just because they don't serve your favorite Panda Express menu. I want to keep this place authentic. We don't get a lot of that in Utah at all. I am aware that they've previously closed down, but the fact that they are allowed to reopen means they've fixed what they needed to. I would come here again for sure.

Needed a late night meal and the BBQ here is tasty! Coming from Seattle there's not much Chinese food to choose from here. We were craving some BBQ pork Lo mien and Ho Mei's dish hit the spot! We also ordered a black pepper beef udon dish and it was delicious! The texture of the udon was perfect and the beef wasn't overcooked! We've also been looking for some good HK style milk tea coffee and so far this place is the best and it's not over priced! We will definitely be coming back for some late night Snacks! Also the workers are super friendly!

After reading the great reviews for this place, and the strong recommendations to try the three-delicacy plate, I decided to give it a try. It was a slow Sunday lunch. Main points here: 1 .Good, friendly service. 2. Food was quick to come out, but paradoxically: (see point 3) 3. Food was COLD. I ordered the three delicacy plate with roast duck, roast pork, and cuttlefish (on a whim), and some beef rice rolls. Every single item was barely lukewarm, the cuttlefish was literally cold. How could the food come out that fast and be cold? 4. The beef rice rolls we're atrocious. Although very unique in texture, the flavor was awful. The pork was very mediocre (very fatty), and I did NOT like the cuttlefish but no stars were deducted for that cause I have no idea what to base that on. The duck was the only decent thing on the plate, and even that was worse for temperature. I'll come back to try a noodle dish, the crab, and the peking duck, to see if they've improved at all, and will update my review accordingly.

An almost complete disappointment, what a horrible service, the worst by far that I have experienced in a restaurant. I don't recommend this place at all unless you don't mind being mistreated in exchange of an ok meal. And even then, I'm sure there are better places for that. I was very excited to try this place, unfortunately we went in 45 minutes before their closing time (11pm) and I was informed by the waitress right away, in not the most friendly manner, that the kitchen was about to close (apparently they close their kitchen half an hour before closing --wait is this a restaurant bar? ) so that we would hurry and order, okaaayy, not the best start I guess but whatever. So we hurried and order some BBQ pork and ribs with rice which was tasty, but before we could really enjoy it, we continued to be rushed by the waitress with everything else throughout our stay --got somewhere else to be right now? We let it slide in an attempt to enjoy my food until it all culminated with the waitress pretty much demanding that I pay before they close the register and then she said that after that I could stay until whenever --yeah...not really feeling it now. She was so rude that I finally had to stop eating so that I could let her have it. The owners (didn't find that out until later) were in the kitchen while this happened and didn't even have the courtesy to come apologize or even say something when they were clearly hearing this. It wasn't until a couple of minutes later after the waitress left us alone that I decided to ask for the manager and the owner introduced himself. I explained my dissatisfaction with him and he was sort of apologetic and offer a DISCOUNT but it was then that I discovered that the problem wasn't just the waitress but their whole business model I guess. I typically give places that I'm not fully satisfied with a second chance, but I honestly doubt I will try this place again.

Last night I was looking around on here for a place to pick up some food. Being Sunday night around 10, there were not many options around my brother's place. I read some reviews for How Mei BBQ and was sold. I got an order of egg rolls, which were a good version of standard egg rolls. I also tried the BBQ pork and cilantro rice rolls. I've never had anything like this and I really enjoyed it. My entree was the Tri-Shredded Meat with Fried Vermicelli. The dish was excellent. Not over seasoned like many places seem to me. This ended up being my lunch for the next day as well since I over ordered a tad. I ordered to go and was told twenty minutes. I got there in 20 minutes and my food was ready right on time. The place looks authentic and the food doesn't let you down.

I thought this place was really tasty. I went wtih the three-meat BBQ dish and it was delicious. I'd say that out of the three meats I tried (duck, chicken, pork), I enjoyed the chicken and pork the most. I enjoyed the greenery served on the side and thought the light sauce on the rice made it unique and enjoyable. I'll definitley be back as the menu is chalk full of items that look really good. In fact, I wanted to ask the server the name of almost every item I saw come out of the kitchen. Definitely a nice addition to the area.

This has just become my new favorite Chinese food place in UT (sorry Little World and New Golden Dragon). I'm not talking about that "good for Utah" addendum either. I legitimately think this place is fantastic. The prices here are reasonable, and the service is okay/efficient. One of the most surprising things about this place is it's clean and tidy. Not that I don't love hole-in-the-wall type of places, that's how I got through college. It's just refreshing to see a clean Chinese restaurant that also has good food (happy memories from Chicago's Chinatown). The food is great too. Not everything is awesome, but even the bleh stuff was still good. Good/bleh entrees included the steamed long noodles w/ shrimp and the roast pork. Awesome entrees included the BBQ pork, preserved egg porridge, and hot and sour soup. Man these items were great, the BBQ pork was flavorful and juice. Both soups have fantastic texture and amazing flavor. Definitely worth a trip!

We ended up here, because the restaurant we planned to go to was packed. I'm so glad we tried this place. Our waitress was very friendly and realized quickly that we'd never been there before. She took the time to explain the various BBQ options. We even got a sample of the roast pork. I was getting the rice plate with the three delicacies and ended up choosing BBQ pork, roast duck and soy sauce chicken. All three were fabulous. We'll definitely be back to try some other things.

Ho Mei BBQ is still my family's all time favorite!!! Although it's Ho Mei "BBQ", I'd like to mention that it's also very vegetarian-friendly~we have friends and relatives who are vegetarians, and they enjoy their food very much. Besides mix vegetables and string beans, you can also order Ma Po Tofu in the vegetarian way. Kōngxīncài/ong choy/hollow vegetable - this vegetable dish is not on the menu, but it's very tasty (especially when it's stir fried with garlic) - give it a try if you go there next time :)

Authentic Chinese BBQ! I ordered the 2 meat combo with roast pork and BBQ spareribs over rice. The roast pork was delicious and had its signature crispy skin. The spareribs were also good but not spectacular. Overall, this is still the best chinese BBQ place I've tried in Utah so I will definitely come back for more!

Before Ho Mei BBQ came into my life I had become largely celibate as far as Chinese cuisine went. Sure I'd had my flings with the dubious allures of other restaurants around town, but rarely more than one night dalliances; and even then usually leaving me feeling uneasy and unfulfilled the next day. The first time I met Ho Mei BBQ, I knew things were going to be different to my other encounters - after all - none of them greeted me so enigmatically like Ho Mei BBQ - with a wall of hanging roasted treats from duck to chicken to pork. The more we hung out the more I became fascinated. There's that crunchy, yet meaty, fatty-good roasted pork. There's the heavenly comfort food that is chicken and salted fish fried rice. And wow, I'm truly madly deeply in love with their Ma Po Tofu - a riotous attack of Sichuan spice in a brown gravy that wraps oh so silky tofu and meaty pork. Ho Mei's charms are endless and effortless and I think I'm ready for a committed relationship. Who knows, maybe if we keep seeing eye to eye like this, I can put those lurid days of cream cheese wontons behind me for something way more substantial.

Perhaps I was a bit harsh after my first few visits, things had definitely improved compared to the time they first launched. There were definitely overall improvements at this place. The vibe is definitely better than many of the Chinese restaurants in town. For the BBQ, duck actually had some fat and moist on the meat this time. The pork was nice juicy and crispy. The soy chicken was good until we got to the last piece with a little blood at the center. Rice roll is another big thing here. When compared to all the places we got in Salt Lake "so far", they might just have the best for now. They got the thickness is the thinnest I have seen here, not doughy like many Dim Sum places in town. Szechuan Chicken had a nice kick to it, but it was little odd eating with bone-in chicken, and it would have been a nice dish with boneless chicken instead. Pickled Veggie with String Beans & Pork was actually surprisingly good, we were expecting just a "meh" veggie dish, but gotten a decent one. Wonton was better this time and none of that strong black pepper taste. I am still not too convinced about Ho Mei, it was an OK experience, and definitely not a fan yet. Perhaps things will improve in future visits.

Anyone following me knows how much I love strip mall/ dive excellence. There are 20 people here for lunch, and I am the only one of Western European descent. That us a great sign! I have spent lots of $ in the China towns of SF, NY, Boston and LA. While not better, Ho Mei is on par with the best of the bigger towns. Roasted duck and pork make the trip worth the drive. Three Shredded Rice Roll put it above anything in SLC. Throw in Peking Style Pork Ribs and 1000 Island Walnut Shrimp and you have a new winner in the clubhouse. The biggest challenge for Ho Mei to attract folks like me is Oh Mei (still my favorite dive shop) is across the street. Live a little. Drive 200 feet and enjoy Ho Mei!. Outstanding Peking style in the gastronomical wasteland of SLC!!!

Decent food, good prices, and take-out service was nice and quick. I probably won't go out of my way to eat here but if I'm in the area, I'd consider stopping by.

Having been here a few more times, looks like they have refined many of the initial problems. So a bump up in stars. Service is better, food presentation has really improved and, especially for Utahans, water glasses with really clean water and ice. You may wonder about that last bit but it's pretty universal that water glasses in most asian restaurants don't appear clean or water taste good. Some dishes have gotten better while some has stayed the same. As Alice says, this is mainly a Cantonese style place so don't expect lots of wild or bold flavors, just a lot of well prepared food.

Best spot in Salt Lake City for Chinese food! Went for lunch and really enjoyed this place. Employees were really attentive. Food was really good! The favorites so far: orange flavored chicken and the garlic eggplant. Can't wait to go back and try more off the menu!

First time dining here and it was an OK experience overall. The food is subpar in comparison to other "authentic" Chinese restaurants in the valley. The Food: My mother and I shared the Wonton soup w/ roasted duck and the Kung Pao Chicken. If you're looking for a place with good egg noodle soups, this place is not it. To put it in a nutshell if you were to go to the China Supermarket next door, buy some frozen pre-made wontons and pre-packaged egg noodles, heat up some broth and throw it all together...you get the Wonton soup at Ho Mei BBQ. As far as the Kung Pao goes, it came out lukewarm, had a decent kick to it, but nothing amazing. The Kung Pao at Golden Dragon is better. The iced lemon tea was refreshing and really good. The service: Slow, slow, slow...even when the restaurant is slow. We came on a Sunday afternoon, which if you're from Utah, you know the whole state is dead on Sundays...if. You're in a hurry, I wouldn't recommend this place. Not sure if I'll be back anytime soon, but if I do, hopefully the next review will be better.

This is our first time and it's not too bad. The price is decent and food was good. They had the Chinese donut aka chao quai. Love it! It's the first Asian restaurant that carries it in Utah. I've order the 3 bbq meat plate. It was a huge portion. The only thing is, service is slower. Other than that, I wouldn't mind giving it another try and try other food here.

I love this place!! I could say this is easily the best Chinese I have had in Salt Lake City! I enjoyed the option of wet noodle that they have. The schezwan spicy chicken is bone in but it's reallllllyyyy delicious. Most of their marked spicy dishes are really hot and spicy which makes me happy. It's affordable too and pretty clean. The service is pretty friendly and fast. There is no reason why I could give them a lower rating than five stars! I will come back again. Woot!!!

I feel like I just walked into an alley in Hong Kong. In a good way. I'm writing this as I go.... Waited for a table, only one Caucasians group. Great signs. Apparently there's a China Town in SLC. Whole ducks hanging in the window. Smells fantastic. Huge family at round table speaking Cantonese sharing dishes. Things on menu we have to look up - and we know our stuff. Prices are ridiculously cheap. Who has anything for under $3? Awesomeness just ensued with the waitress. She isn't from Utah. Willingness to point out several dishes to try - high. Ability to explain dishes in English - low. Ordered pork belly, already on table before I could type the rest of whatever I was going to write. Distracted by the food. Roasted duck is out of f*****g control. Like a poorly parented child in a toy store. Rice roll is slimy as hell and we love it. Doused it in hot oil aaaaand it's gone. Two more Tsingtaos please. (Side note: Beer allows you to artificially burp, tricking yourself into thinking you can keep eating) We're shoveling fat rice noodles into our mouthes with delightfully mismatched chopsticks, somehow rhey havr imparted a charred flavor onto noodles, which are cooked with sprouts and carrots. Pork belly clay pot. Woah. Great veggies in a thick, rich sauce with massive flavor. Can't decide which dish is better. No white people sightings since first table left. If you need Wagyu quality beef this isn't your joint. If you want a culturally authentic experience that you thought Utah was utterly incapable of delivering... I'll see you here.

Went to this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday evening with five other friends. After browsing the menu and looking at pictures of what to order on Yelp, everyone at the table chose something different to try. A few of us ordered the coffee and milk tea drink which was pretty sweet and paired well with the entrees. My boyfriend ordered the roasted pork and I ordered the XO sauce stir fried seafood udon. The roasted items came first with a side of hot soup with wontons in it. For less than $7, it's a pretty great deal and it tasted good too. When the udon finally came out, I was super full from picking at my boyfriend's food while waiting, so after a few bites, we packed it up to eat as leftovers. On the menu, it says the entree is spicy, but I felt like it wasn't spicy at all. Overall, the food at this place is pretty good quality for the price. The reason why I'm only giving it three stars is because the serving of the items was so poorly spaced apart. We had a dish come out every 10-15 minutes so by the time the last dish came out, everyone else was practically done with their meal. I understand that some dishes take longer to cook, but there are ways to ensure that people who come to share a meal are able to share a meal together. Will probably return when my boyfriend's cravings hit again in a few months because he really enjoyed his dish, but I'm not as eager to return.

This is the place where you want to go if you're looking for authentic chinese food. The food at Ho Mei taste exactly the same as Chinatown food back home in NY and some were even better. They even have this old school dish, pork belly with black bean sauce (i think, in chinese it's called mui choi gow yok) that is pretty hard to find in NY. It is best to order family style instead of individual dishes over rice. I love their clay pot dishes. I would definitely recommend the salted fish with eggplant, salted pork bone & mixed mushroom (for days you want something light) and ma po tofu (very spicy). My boyfriend loves eating the roasted pork with flat noodle soup (add some of the hot oil provided at the side of the table). if you eat egg noodles with soup, it is common for chinese people to dip the noodles with vinegar go with it. I like to mix mine on a separate plate with vinegar, soy sauce, and hot chili sauce that is on the side of the table. Dipping the egg noodles little bit in the mix sauce taste the best like this. The staff is very helpful in helping you picking a few dishes if you're a little lost in what you want to order. Overall the food is great and the staff is very friendly too.

***WORSE CHINESE RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE*** If you order an entree dish, they will give you one small soup size bowl of rice. They expected me to share this small bowl with multiple people that I had with me at dinner? Are you serious? If you request for a larger bowl of rice, they will charge you $2 more for rice. I've never seen such a stingy restaurant that won't offer you enough rice to eat your meal with. They try to do whatever to make money off of you. The food entree such as their so called popular duck BBQ entree wasn't that good at all. I had a fish entree dish platter that had very little taste in it. The taste of their food is very bland. I would highly recommend not to go to this restaurant. This has to be one of the worst Chinese restaurants I've ate at. I've been to many Chinese restaurants in the SLC area.

Finally found some worthy chinese cuisine in Utah! Being from the San Francisco Bay Area I have missed this kind of food for some time. The combination platter is excellent - we got duck, intestines, and stomach. All cooked very well - and most important very fresh and clean. The pork belly and jalapeño is one of my all time favorite dishes on the menu. I love that they have more "adventurous" and "exotic" choices. The fried buns are a delicious treat to start d the meal and should not be missed. All the clay pots are lovely; authentic and rich. The menu is no frills and absolutely perfect in my opinion! Just like the roasted duck houses in Chinatown. If you want authentic chinese... This is a must stop.

I decided to try this place out because the overall rating was better than most places in the Murray area. This place is downright not your typical Chinese place, I guess it is straight out from China with the cooked duck hanging in the glass area. I knew when I went in, this food would be served differently. I was really in the mood for asian BBQ, this place wasnt the place to go. The food wasnt that great to be honest. The BBQ pork spare ribs were overcooked and very hard and not enjoyable at all. Hardly any meat to eat on the bone. The ribs were served in bite size portions so I didnt expect that. The Mongolian Beef was what I ordered from their lunch special and it was tasty but the quality of the meat was poor, extremely chewy with lots of fat. Not much of a lunch special, no soup or egg roll. Just rice. Not much of a lunch special after all. When I asked the waitress for a fork to eat with instead of chopsticks, she gave me a weird look like I was asking something outrageous. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. I should have asked for my money back with the BBQ Pork Spareribs but didnt think it was worth it. If you are hungry for Chinese and want quality food and a more inviting experience, hit up Charlie Chow's Dragon Grill instead.

There is never a need to wait for seats which is a plus for me. The food here is indeed authentic - with taste and compositions very up to par. I really like their BBQ pork. I also tried shanghai noodles and it was pretty decent. Taste of other dishes is average though - the rice was a little dry from the times I visit. But, if you mix it with the main dishes (vegetables/meat and sauces) it's fine. Plus, my partner really liked hard rice - so it was a plus for him. Service here is not bad - but they did forget our orders one time...which was a bit surprising considering that there were only 4 tables and 2 servers on spot.

Highlights: Chinese pickles with chicken and green beans. The beans were cooked to perfection, and the flavor was REALLY good. Truly enjoyed the soy sauce chicken. So tender and silky. Also enjoyed the crispy skin and cartilage on the bbq pork. Being the westerner that I am, I had to try the wonton soup. I'm sure others would have loved this soup, however, I wasn't aware that the wontons in wonton soup are traditionally filled with ground pork AND shrimp, instead of the version I'm used to, which is just made with pork. In the end, I enjoyed the greens that were in the soup, and the broth was nice and warm and mild. Wasn't a huge fan of the spicy sichuan chicken. It was just 'ok'.

I've had a lot of authentic wonton noodle soup in my life, and until I came here I thought Utah was lacking. The texture of the noodles, the savory broth, and the meaty wontons, it takes me back. Highly recommended. Also. Did I mention this place is open late (late being defined as being past *gasp* 10:00 pm)!?

Beef Chow fun was awesome! I really love soups and broths but was not especially impressed with the wonton soup, simple flavors all around and service was very nice. I did however really enjoy their rice rolls.

After quite a few further visits, I've come to the point where I have to say I love you, but I can't fight you anymore. Ho Mei, truly, I do and I'm glad you're in the city, but I have to pull you out of regular rotation for my lunch consideration. I think you're a very nice restaurant and brought me back into believing in Chinese restaurants. Yes, you restored my faith, but look, it's me, not you. It's not your fault (I'm being generous here) that I have no idea what's in many of your dishes and no real way to find out. It's not your fault that without either an adequate explanation or (at the very least) pictures, I'm not willing to throw a random dart at the menu and try something any longer. It's not your fault that I can't live with the particular Oolong you keep serving me without any other real solid drink choices. It's not your fault I can't keep you on a pedestal, leave the blinders on and pretend the food is better than it actually is, to a level where I'd be compelled to return or would be willing to overlook all those other flaws... I really enjoy the space and like to hang out here and wish I could do it more often, but as you've noted yourself on your takeout menus, it is a Chinese food adventure and I don't always want that for lunch, especially when I'm limited on time. You'll probably still see me from time to time, but it won't be in the relationship either of us was hoping for. Sometimes things just don't work out...but I wish you all the best and hey, if you ever get those menu pictures or better descriptions, give me a call. I'll be around and who knows? Maybe the fire will still burn...

After 6 visits, I have decided that this is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Salt Lake valley. The food is unique and delicious. Today I had gai lan with preserved meats. It was a tasty vegetable stir fry with slices pork meats that tasted almost like some of the salami I used to eat in Italy. I also really like the wonton soup with pork which has wontons with whole shrimp inside. The food is delicious, most of the servers are friendly and it is the most authentic of all the Chinese places in Utah. The only negative I have found: Sometimes the service can be slow. But I think the food is worth the wait as you won't find the variety of selection at any other Chinese restaurant in the area.

this canton style cafe is just what the tummy needs for filling before a road trip! Its quality is just about as good as the ones found back at home in Cali at least in close comparison to my favorite Cousin Cafe back at home in Fremont CA or ABC cafe in SF chinatown. The price here is good and the food is tasty and the food comes really quickly which is super important when my tummy was SOOOOOO hungry and growly. It put a nice smile to my face. If you haven't ever had chinese food before, i strongly recommend to try the clay pot dishes as they are authentic and worth while and the portions are gargantuan enough to take back for left overs. i thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and shitake mushroom one that i ordered.

Yummy in my tummy! Went for lunch today and ordered the 3 meat BBQ plate (roasted pork, roasted duck, & cuttlefish), garlic gai lan (Chinese broccoli) and a fresh shrimp rice roll. Large portions and enough to feed 3. The pork had the crispy delicious top I was hoping for. The duck was juicy and succulent. It didn't have a crispy skin like I was expecting. I have only ever had fried cuttlefish and I wasn't sure what to expect. It was very tasty but had a rubbery consistency. Maybe that is normal? Not for the faint of heart. Lovely garlic sauce on the gai lan. The rice roll was silky smooth and delectable. Slid right down. Excited to go back and try some more of their huge menu. Perhaps something with bitter melon?

Whenever I'm in Salt Lake, I miss my comfort food. In SLC, this is as close as it gets to home-style Cantonese food for me. I've had several congee styles (preserved egg with fish slices is the best IMO, a custom combi), rice rolls (nice and thin skin), some claypot dishes (robust, savoury) sampled my boyfriend's fave beef and egg on rice (constarch-y but comforting) and some soup (slightly less good). Note: This is NOT American-Chinese food, so don't come here expecting your usual crappy sweet and sour neon mystery meat. The hanging roasts in the display window should have told you that anyway. A great plus is that they are open till late most nights, and service is always friendly.

We had the three delicacies barbeque plate with roasted pork, roasted duck, and soy sauce chicken. They were amazing. Coming from a picky Chinese cuisine eater it was good. Plus eating it with porridge or congee (salt pork & preserved egg) was delicious. Was perfect for a mid morning meal. There was so much more that I wanted to try but just those two was plenty for two. I will be back to try more. We also ordered the HK milk tea sadly no bubbles to go with them.

Set in the newish China town, this bright and open restaurant doesn't seem to be too busy yet. We were served by Juanita. She was so accommodating and nice. A total change from the mean servers of the other Chinese places we frequent. We got the three item delicacy, some rice rolls and fried vermicelli. Too much for 2 people? Yes. The Chinese BBQ was nice. We ordered the roasted pork because Juanita said it had just come out of the roaster. The skin was amazingly crispy but the meat was cool. I wouldn't describe the meat as juicy either, but it was tender. The roasted duck was really great. Not hot either, but tasty and crisp and dripping with juice. Spareribs were spareribs. The rice rolls were nice, Juanita tried to talk me out of getting the Chinese donut rice roll. she said that I wouldn't like it. I understand that there are some really picky eaters in Utah, in fact it's a culture here, so I don't mind when this happens. Turns out the rolls were a little plain but they were still fun to eat and something very different from what we normally eat. Now that it's done, I'd say that Ho Mei is OK. It didn't strike me as amazing. I want to go back and try again with Juanita picking our food, see what happens. I'll let you know how that goes.

As I've mentioned in other reviews, my husband and I look forward to dining at new places. We've eaten at this restaurant three different times because we know it has potential to be really good. Two out of the three times we have eaten here, it has been good. However, and I can not stress this enough, the worst thing about this restaurant is the menu. It is extensive beyond its means and lacks description of every-single-item. The only way to know what you are getting is by asking your server. And even that doesn't work. As once we asked a young man, "Is there pork in this dish?" He replies, "I think it's white meat". Are you kidding me? Honestly, I can't stand the frustration that comes with ordering a meal. It is so annoying, I'd rather eat else where. Regardless of how delicious the food maybe.

Found this place by accident and discovered I really do like it. The menu is somewhat intimidating, it is huge. Most people would be taken back by it, but I have to admit the kitchen does a good job keeping up with it. Some places fail cause the menu is too big for them to keep up with it. There are items that can take you back a bit, but like I told my wife "Think of it as a culinary minefield, carefully thread your way through it and you'll be fine" Personally, I love the spare ribs and I can not do without the Roast Pork Wonton Noodle Soup. It took me back to when I was growing up in Hawaii. That dish was real old school good.

This is a great place! Food is very fresh and so flavorful. The eggplant dish is great and the sweet and sour soup has a perfect flavor with lots of ingredients. Not like other places that it is mostly broth. And our server was super helpful and very friendly!

Went for dinner, will definitely be back! We got the three meat plate with BBQ duck, Soy chicken and BBQ pork. I especially liked the duck and pork. We also got the veggie chow mein and the rice wraps with mushroom and (I think) ground pork. The chow mein was good and there was plenty, I was happy to see none of the weird crunchy noodles that taste like cardboard in it. The rice wraps were weird, there were two cut into 4 segments, the sauce was excellent and the meat & mushrooms inside were delicious, but the soggy, gelatinous consistency of the wet, thick rice wrap was too much! The waitresses were great and attentive. We were seated, given water and advice on ordering from one waitress, then the other one saw that we had put our menus down (the universal, "We are ready to order" signal, right?) and came right over and took our order! Nice! It was a little weird that the items came out one-at-a-time. They give you small plates, so I'm assuming the idea is to eat each thing and then move to the next item instead of loading your plate with it all. The menu is MASSIVE and we checked our bill twice because it was so cheap! All that and an iced milk tea for under $30?!?! Can't wait to try more!

I loved this spot! Flew in late Saturday night (they are open until midnight on Friday and Saturday) and came here for the 3 bbq meats sampler. We got the roast pork, bbq ribs, and roast duck. All were excellent! Also had a great drink off the specials board that involved lychee, soy milk, sugar and crushed ice that was quite good. Mild language barrier but they were able to overcome my twang and get us out of there well fed. I wish I had several weeks to work my way through their menu because I have a feeling there are some real gems in there...

I love this restaurant. As a Chinese grew up from the southern china, I consider they have the most authentic food in town. It feels like a normal Hong Kong tea house to me, pretty small but comfortable. I believe they don't put msg in it, since I never felt too thirsty afterwards. They have all sorts of different taste of dishes, sweet, salty, spicy. You can always ask recommendations from the waitress.

Well, I'm both thrilled and sad that this place has only gotten mediocre reviews. Thrilled because I don't want this place to get too crowded since I LOVE it, and sad because I think that this place is better than the reviews make it out to be. Let's just start off saying that I went to eat here three times in the last week. In my opinion, this is the best, freshest, and most authentic Chinese food in Salt Lake City. I had been disillusioned by Chinese food in SLC after going to Red Maple, Cafe Anh Hong, Golden Dragon, etc. One of my Taiwanese friends bought me here one Sunday night, and I texted her on Monday asking when we could go again. And then I went on Saturday too. This place is open 7 days a week (that's right- NOT closed on Sunday!) and is open late as well. I hope they continue staying open late, but I'm afraid that over time it might not make sense since I doubt it's very busy until midnight or 1am.... this being Utah and all. I think perhaps the difference is that when I'm there with my Taiwanese friend, we don't order off the menu and Amy Aiyi just brings us out what she thinks we'll like. And she's usually right. The menu itself is huge, but when she's pointed out what she's ordered for us, it starts to be less overwhelming. And despite the name, the BBQ is just fine, but the real star here is the homestyle Chinese cooking. The first time we went, we had a fish, pickled cabbage, and tofu soup that was just sensational. I felt like I was eating at home. The broth was clear, the soup wasn't overseasoned, and the whole of it was a clean wholesome taste that just made me feel comforted. She also brought out a tofu and chicken casserole which was also tasty and delicious. They make their own tofu, and it's incredibly silky and melts in your mouth. They have a million different types of rice porridge, which is my own personal comfort food. Here, it's really done well. If I had a choice, I'd have it every morning for breakfast. So, try it out if you will... I do want them to stay in business, and rent in this new Chinatown complex can't be cheap.

Have not had Chinese food in forever and this totally hit the spot. We ordered the entrees at lunch, so we got to try several things at a great price - awesome chicken, General tso's chicken, and sweet and sour chicken, all great. My kids even ate really well. Even the fried rice was tasty, something often lacking at many places. The service wasn't superb it took well over 20 minutes for our food and it was after 1:30 when we came in though there was only two other small tables of people there when we got there, and the only way we got water refills was by asking. Still, the food was so amazing, we still will be back, but maybe for takeout since we have little ones and the wait was a little trying for them at the end (2 year olds have trouble sitting that long). Our little guy's were pretty entertained to see the whole bbq'd ducks up front (if you're sensitive to that sort of thing, you've been forewarned). And I guess they don't have a soda fountain, so coke products are by the can. Hubs prefers that, so he wasn't bothered.

this is the good stuff. Things you don't get anywhere else. Open till 11PM Whole roasted pig, duck, ribs, pork, pork belly, cuttlefish , huge dishes of veggies. It's reasonable. I can't explain it . Just go.You know it's real cause there was only Chinese families eating there and they were digging in.

Only one visit, BUT, 31 min wait for carryout on a Sunday night with restaurant way less than half full. Sze-huan chicken entree was way too hot for most people to eat. Orange chicken was soggy, bland. Might give it one more try for the BBQ, but so far the fam gave it a thumbs down

I am so thrilled that we can get this type of Chinese food in SLC. Its not the only place, but one of a few. I love the egg noodle soup with wonton and roast duck. Basically a "Hong Kong Ramen". This place is killer for lunch - VERY clean kitchen and friendly staff. My colleagues and I are big fans. Can't wait to try this for dinner - the Char Shu (bbq pork) looks to be great as well!

First time - waited over 25 minutes for to-go order, orange chicken and Malaysian chicken. Chicken was soggy and their take out portions are marginal. :( - When inquiring about order the response was "oh yah ..sorry we go by tickets". Then proceeded to wait another 10 mins!! I was intrigued about the BBQ - sooooo I will try once more and go for the BBQ, hopefully that will be good?

The food was decent and fresh, but definitely not good enough to warrant a 4 star or 5 star. The good news is that their food is actually pretty Authentic for Chinese food and if you are in Park City for skiing, there's not many choices for Chinese food and this is definitely the best out of all the other Chinese restaurants.

I had to go back 3 days later and take my daughter this time. Mom and Dad too. We loved the sizzling eggplant!! It came out to the table steaming and screaming hot. The server opened up the foil package to reveal the most delectable stewed eggplant in sauce. The eggplant still had enough skin on it to retain texture without being tough. It was so flavorful! The preserved meats with green beans was full of new flavors and perfectly seared beans. Wow. Chinese sausage and bacon were cooked well done - not fatty at all. We also ordered chicken curry clay pot. Saucy and mild. Great over rice! Chicken was whacked into bite size pieces, bone included, so I just got in there with my fingers to devour every bit of meat. I'm glad we tried the 3 Delicacy BBQ. Roast chicken, BBQ duck, BBQ pork. Duck was great. Soy sauce chicken was a deep golden brown. So juicy! Pork was good too. We had 4 entrees for 4 people. 3 would have been enough, however I don't knock leftovers. I would have skipped one of these to have had the pork and cilantro rice roll again. That is the stuff cravings are made of. Slippery texture with bold flavors. Service tonight was even better tonight than it was on Wed lunch. (Juanita rocks) I would have given 5 stars for food and service, but ambiance brought it down. I hate fluorescent lights and they need some wall decor. I am so happy to have a new favorite Chinese restaurant. With the new China Town completing its second phase building in the spring, this is just what Salt Lake needs to be considered a metropolitan city.

This place has very authentic Chinese dishes but I will also compliment them on the non traditional stuff. I got beef fried rice here and that is by far the best beef fried rice I've had in Utah. It's pretty quite, so a good place to eat and the staff is very kind.

After reading reviews and hearing that this place has good Chinese food from a non-Utah native, we decided to try it. Naturally we tried it on a Friday night after the Tribune published a review so it was packed. We ordered the Chinese doughnut rice roll as an appetizer. I don't recommend it. The first couple bites were okay, but the rice paper was kind of slimy and unappetizing and the soy sauce they served underneath the rice rolls was sponged up and made them really salty. For our main courses we ordered ham fried rice, the BBQ two delicacy combo with BBQ pork and roasted duck and the chicken with mushroom clay pot. Normally ham fried rice is standard and pretty good. I honestly have no idea what sort of magic they worked on the ham fried rice here, but it was really fabulous. Each grain of rice seemed infused with ham flavor and the ham seemed to be of a slightly better quality than your average ham fried rice. Seriously, I can't get over how tasty that rice was. The BBQ pork was pretty good. I might order it again, but there are other things I'd rather try. The duck was superb. I really loved that and I would order that again and again. The clay pot had terrific flavor, but it was hard to eat without a knife. That might be something to order and take home where you can eat it with a fork and knife without being embarrassed. Service was a bit spotty, but then again, it was insanely busy and our server had practically been run off her feet. She was really nice in spite of being exhausted. I think that because it was so busy they had a hard time remembering what we ordered so things came in a really random order. All in all, I think this is a great place and I'll definitely be visiting in the near future.

This place is amazing. The food is so authentic and the flavors are robust and keep your pallet wanting more. The pork belly BBQ had the most perfect crispy skin! The rice rolls were very good and then we had a vermicelli noodle dish and some seriously spicy string beans... I ate my leftovers for 3 meals straight. There wasn't a thing we ordered that I didn't like and I would definitely go back.

Best Cantonese in town! Disclosure: I am friends (not close) with some of the owners. I may have some bias, but I do want to correct some false statements. First: There was a conjecture that the head chef quit and they used Wite-Out to erase his specialties from the menu. That is completely wrong, for they first had a very unwieldly menu and on our advice they revised it to reduce the number of choices. The kitchen staff remains unchanged, and they are starting to get comfortable with their specialties. Their "soft opening" may not have gone well, but they are dedicated to learning from their mistakes, and I believe most issues have been ironed out. One waitress was well-intended but frustratingly poor at her job, and she is gone. For the English speakers, I suggest Juanita (don't let the name fool you, she is Chinese raised in the US) will take good care of you. The chefs are from New York Chinatown (!), and they had a few false starts with their BBQ because of Utah's altitude. As they worked through these issues, they started to provide consistently good Chinese BBQ. I especially recommend the duck, it is the best in town and makes my Hong Kong wife very happy. The pork is no longer overly dry, and the char-siu and ginger chicken are fine choices. The best way to order is to find a Chinese friend and have them chat with the waitress about the better items on the menu. Failing that, I recommend the salt and pepper fried chicken wings. Also very good are the curry dishes (try the fish balls, they make them in-house) and we like the seafood udon noodles. The BBQ combo on rice is a good choice (perhaps sparse, but good, clean flavor) and my wife raves about their dungeness crab which is only lightly fried unlike the heavily battered offerings from other places. For the American-Chinese food taste profile, the walnut shrimp was well made, though I personally find it a bit sweet (in any restaurant) for a main course. This is a great late-night eatery and there's always an available table due to most of the local interest being pulled by the buffet on the corner. I hope for them to do well for their sake, but I do believe they provide great food, great friends for regulars, and best of all some variety for this bland, white-bread city with great potential for expanding horizons. Our Hong Kong friends are very excited to have this new place to enjoy excellent Cantonese style foods.

If you want some authentic Chinese BBQ, this is the place you should go! As for other Chinese dishes, they are so-so, not very impressive, but not bad compared to other so-called Chinese restaurants in Utah. Very friendly customer service!!
